Son of Argan

Son of Argan, King of White Mountain is a game developed by three students at the HAN in Arnhem.

The World

The world consists of a few major area's:

• Land Argan Named after the Argan fruit for it's shape
• Town LaForge Named after Geordi LaForge and the presence of a forge in town
• Town Yarrow Named after the little white flower
• Fallen city of Pandora Named after the first woman according to Greek mythology
• Eastern border country Endor Named after the fictional planet from the Star Trek series.
• Western border country White Mountains Named after a mountain ridge in Tolkien's Lord of the Rings

Argan

Argan is a country named after the almond shape fruit called Argan. This because of the it's shape between the eastern and western river. In the northern border both rivers spring in the mountains. In the south both rivers join together and become one wide river just below the fallen city of Pandora. 

White Mountains

White Mountains is Argan's western neighbouring country. Together with Argan it is ruled as if the countries were one by king Farralt Xulane. The countryhas been given it's name by the huge, white towering mountains. 

Endor

Endor is Argan's eastern neighboring country. It is seperated from Argan by both the eastern river and a huge ravin. 

Pandora

Pandora is the Argan's most southern town. In the last war the town has been completely destroyed, and since then has only been inhabited by dwarves who have dug their way into a large cave in the most southern part of the town. Only one inhabitant of Pandora has lived above ground since the war. The dark wizard known as Shadow queen Shialmar resides in the large black tower in the southern part of Pandora. Shialmar is rumored to be Kan the Priest's fiancé. Shialmar has used both her and Kan's magical powers to create a large vortex over Argan. With this vortex she's planning on creating a pathway to her home planet Kyr. With this pathway she can call upon warriors to assist her in conquering Argan. 

Yarrow

Yarrow is a small town in Son of Argan named after the little white flower with the same name. yarrow is also the starting area in the game. The town consists of a couple of streets on a leveled surface. the town has a small town square and even an unused gallow. Wesley and his family live in a small farm surrounding a small cornfield just behind the towns centre. Yarrow lies between the eastern river and the large forest area, separating the town from LaForge. 

LaForge

LaForge is a small town in the centre area of Argan. On the west of LaForge flows the western river, to the north and south the town is surounded by forests. LaForge is mainly inhabited by dwarven people.

Wesley lives together with his mother Aemilia, father Ovid and sister Nana in the beautiful green town of Yarrow. They live in an old, small farm with some land surrounding it. Together with a few neighboring houses they live at the very edge of Yarrow.

Both Wesley and Nana attend the local school and belong to the top students of their class. Especially Wesley is a very intelligent boy and ahead of both his age and the time he lives in. Wesley's mother, Aemilia is a very explosive woman. She has a temper and makes it very clear who's the boss in the house. this on the contrary of Ovid, who turns out to be a very gentle middle aged man. Ovid is a man that does his job without moaning or complaining.

The Story

The land Argan and it's neighboring country White Mountains are ruled by king Farralt Xulane. King Xulane resides in his castle in White Mountains. Both country's are ruled as if they are one, but have their own specific characteristics. White Mountains is characterized by a great mountain landscape, where Argan consists mainly of wide green fields and large forest area's  Both Argan and White Mountains are inhabited by both humans and dwarves. Both species live in harmony and peace with one another. Since the day the two countries joined together as one, King Xulane stands as ruler of both countries. Late king Elron Hammersmith of White Mountains now stands as chief of the countries main source of income, the mining industry in White Mountain. Lord Elron resides in the large cave underneath the ruins of Pandora.

The story of Wesley starts in a small town called Yarrow at the eastern border of Argan. Wesley's father, Ovid is a farmer with a small farm at the towns border. Together with his sister Nana, mother Aemilia and father Ovid, the family lives a peaceful and happy farmers life. The two kids attend the local school. There they are know two belong to the top students of their class. Wesley's mother Aemilia could be a true army officer. Although she's just 5 foot tall, she makes it very clear who runs the house.

On the other side of Yarrow's southern forest lies the town of LaForge. A typical dwarven town filled with bars, smithy's and cave-like houses. Some call LaForge a city because it is surrounded by a thick city wall. The awll has been build in an era long gone, when Argan was at war with White Mountains.

Wince the last couple of days a large vortex can be seen high up in the skies over Yarrow. Although the planet is know for it's moons, spacial anomalies and other strange appearances in the sky, this vortex has replaced the bright skies with it's sun and scattered moons in it. Wesley is one of the people that are bothered with this strange phenomenon, and he starts on a quest leading towards activities beyond belief.

Having spoken to loads of people, and visiting hundreds of different places, Wesley finds that the vortex has been created by Shialmar. The dark wizard that inhabits the immense tower in Pandora has been spending all here time in building this vortex so she can call upon forces from her home planet Kyr to take over Argan.

With the knowledge Wesley has gathered while swarming through Argan, he seeks possibilities to destroy this vortex. Will he succeed? It's up to you to let Wesley become...
